4. Outlook

PPS producers are very optimistic about the future of this plastic, which continues to replace metals faster than it is threatened by other plastics. Forecast growth rates are 7% a year, at least for the next five years, driven by both new applications and sustained demand from existing applications.

However, the choice between various high-performance materials and grades is increasingly wide.

Finally, the many recent projects and plans for large-scale compounding plants in China demonstrate the extent to which this country-continent is destined to add new, ultra-high-performance products to simple applications and low-cost mass markets.
