9. Conclusion

Plastics and rubbers are particularly affected by REACH regulations, due to the nature of the substances used in their manufacture and processing. REACH requires, and will continue to require, political decisions on specific issues. Danger and exposure must and will be analyzed in order to determine the risks, and consequently to put in place the right preventive measures to ensure safe use.

However, it's worth noting the involvement of automotive and aerospace manufacturers, major users of plastics and rubbers, who are very demanding when it comes to the use of chemical substances for their own products.

For example, carmakers have set up traceability procedures via the IMDS declaration, enabling them to know the composition of the materials making up the vehicle and thus effectively manage the obsolescence of parts and R&D and substitution...
