Indice Limite d'Oxygène ILO; Limiting Oxygen Index LOI

Standardized test (ISO 4589) for measuring the minimum oxygen content in a polymer material ignited in a flow of oxygen and nitrogen, to ensure stable combustion of the test piece (rod) for a specified time or until a specified quantity of material is consumed. It is defined by :

ILO (%) = [O_{2}] / ([O_{2}] + [N_{2}])
