Some applications have been standardized, such as :

• bonded external glazing (VEC) – Part 1: glass products for bonded external glazing systems for monolithic products and wedged and non wedged multiple products NF EN 13022-1 ;

• in-situ structural silicone glazing evaluation. ASTM C 1394;

• remedying structural silicone glazing. ASTM C 1487.

Elastomers are appreciated for their elasticity and watertightness, wide temperature range, durability in outdoor applications, and resistance to water. They are used, for example, in :

• sealing and bonding compounds ;

• façade joints, window joints ;

• brackets for exterior glazing ;
