 INTRODUCTION

The thermal phenomena involved in the molding cycle were presented in the dossier: "Thermal injection of thermoplastics. Fundamentals". In this second dossier, we present notions of optimization and control of thermal phenomena: optimal filling time, notions of thermal control of tools (stability and homogeneity) and optimal cooling time of molded parts. Many of the results are based on concepts developed in . The variables and parameters used are defined in the following table.

Definition of parameters and variables

K and n

power law coefficients (K consistency and n pseudoplasticity index)

λ

thermal conductivity

ρ
