2. Requirements for molded plywood parts
To achieve mechanical strength, the type of wood (beech or other species), the total thickness (number of plies) and the type of glue (rigid urea-formaldehyde or more flexible PVAc) must all be taken into account. Standardized tests can be carried out at the FCBA technology institute.
When it comes to appearance, there are a host of possibilities: fine surface finishes, varnishes, stains, paints, decorative plastic shells, foam-covered fabrics or stitched leather.
For indoor use, choose classic wood (beech) and urea-formaldehyde or vinyl glue.
For outdoor use, choose an exotic wood species like okoumé, a water-resistant glue like melamine, and suitable finishes.
