1. Blast wave pressure profiles
The term blast wave is used to designate the aerial shock wave resulting from the detonation of an explosive charge. This name is due to the "strong wind" that accompanies the wave and is felt by a stationary observer as the wave passes. Whereas the term shock wave is used more generally to describe a pressure wave with a steep front, but where the wave profile is not characterized in detail.
