Deflagration; deflagration

Subsonic combustion mode propagated by coupling with species and material transfers.

Detonation; detonation

Combustion mode coupled with a shock wave propagating at supersonic speed relative to the reactive medium.

Explosion; explosion

Sudden release of energy that can cause damage.

Shock wave

Sudden discontinuity of thermodynamic quantities, particularly with a steep pressure gradient in a reactive or inert medium.

Blast wave

Pressure wave generated by an explosion in the surrounding environment.
