6. Conclusion

Although the BLEVE phenomenon is relatively well documented in the literature, current knowledge does not yet allow us to define a consensus modeling method. Under French regulations, the methods to be used are clearly defined (circular dated May 10, 2010), but they do not correspond to those recommended by other foreign bodies. The difficulty lies largely in the fact that the aim is not to model just one type of effect, but several, and that each of these effects, taken separately, already presents modelling difficulties. It is clear from this article that most of the approaches proposed today are based on a number of empirical parameters, which can vary from one author to another, leading to very different estimates of effect distances.
