Major accident
An event such as a major emission, fire or explosion resulting from uncontrolled developments in the course of operation, causing damage to the interests referred to in L. 511-1 of the French Environment Code (neighborhood amenity, public health, safety and hygiene, agriculture, protection of nature, the environment and landscapes, economical use of natural, agricultural or forestry land, rational use of energy, conservation of sites and monuments and elements of the archaeological heritage), with serious consequences, immediate or deferred, and involving one or more hazardous substances or mixtures.
Establishment
The entire site under the control of an operator where hazardous substances are present in one or more facilities, including common or related infrastructures or activities.
