6. Mistakes to avoid

6.1 Don't neglect your waste classification

If in doubt about classification, don't hesitate to have physico-chemical analyses carried out (such as a waste acceptance certificate). The cost of this analysis will be more than offset by the savings:

  • additional costs of disposing of non-hazardous waste in a hazardous waste stream;

  • additional costs associated with the refusal to dispose of hazardous waste mistakenly sent to a non-hazardous waste stream; the service provider must refuse the waste, return it to you at your expense and notify the inspectorate of the incident.
