1. Identify the presence of a registration number in your substance SDS
The first element to check in an SDS to determine whether it should contain an appendix is the presence of a registration number. This number can be found in either Section 1 or Section 3.
This number takes the following form: 01-1234567891-23-0001 (fictitious number). The meaning is as follows:
01 indicates a registration number. If you have 05, this is a pre-registration number which is not compulsory (see REACh: understanding the main principles and procedures
);[FIC 0121] the following 12 digits are substance-specific ;
the last four digits are specific to the supplier/importer who registered the substance.
