2. Different priming sources

Table 2 shows the influence of different types of ignition source on the dust explosions recorded in the BIA statistics. At this point, it is worth describing in greater detail the ignition sources that are technically relevant.

2.1 Mechanical ignition sources

These sources of ignition can be complex. Firstly, the solid constituting the dust may be sensitive to shock and friction. This would be the case for detonating substances in condensed phase. In this case, it is possible that mechanical stress on the product in mills or equipment with moving mechanical parts could directly cause the product...
