4. Justification of shallow foundations
4.1 Preamble
The new NFP 94-261 regulation is to be applied in the case of shallow foundations. These refer to Eurocode 8 Part 5 for verification in seismic zones. The Eurocode now allows envelope curves to be calculated directly from seismic forces, and has the advantage of taking account of soil inertia forces.
