4. Analysis of REX in three industries

We present here three REX configurations observed in a railway company and two energy production companies. Each case is based on a specific investigative method (non-participant observation, interviews and participant observation). The first presents the results of a detailed analysis of work meetings between actors from different backgrounds, and shows how REX data are discussed to better negotiate the distribution of resources between several departments. The second example is based on accounts of practices adopted by experts, who use REX data drawn from technical incidents to consolidate budgetary arbitrations. Finally, the third example describes how a REX system has been integrated into the company's safety management system. Each case study is followed by a focus on key operational lessons learned.
