10. Mistakes to avoid

10.1 Don't confuse UN number and waste code

The UN number of a waste (UN + 4 digits) is a classification specific to the hazards it represents during the transport operation. The waste code is a six-digit code taken from the unique list of wastes presented in the annex to Décision n° 2000/532/CE de la Commission du 3 mai 2000 , and characterizes the process or activity from which the waste originates. These two classifications must appear on the electronic hazardous waste tracking form issued on the Trackdéchets database.
