5. Regulations applicable to the storage of agri-food products

The prevention of industrial risks associated with the storage of agri-food products is governed by two major texts: regulations governing facilities classified for environmental protection (ICPE), and regulations governing explosive atmospheres.

5.1 ICPE regulations

The French law of July 19, 1976 on facilities classified for environmental protection imposes a certain number of obligations on operators of factories, workshops, warehouses or other establishments that may present hazards or nuisances for neighbors or the environment.

The classification of a classified facility is determined by a national nomenclature of substances or activities.
