3. Motivating your employees to wear PPE

3.1 Writing job descriptions

As PPE is designed to protect against chemical hazards, it is in the employer's interest to draw up instructional job sheets for use by exposed employees. These job sheets should cover the following aspects:

  • how to remove PPE safely ;

  • PPE inspection frequency ;

  • PPE disposal criteria (in the case of garments with holes or tears) ;

  • rules for storing PPE at the end of a shift.
