8. Regulatory framework

8.1 Protecting workers

Under EU regulations (Directives 98/24/EC and 2004/37/EC), employers are responsible for the health and safety of their employees, and must do everything in their power to protect them from all types of risk, particularly chemical risk.

In 2007, there were no regulations specific to nanomaterials. They are therefore subject to the regulations governing their chemical nature.
