8. Conclusion

In France, the need to identify and prevent the spread of accidents through domino effects is mandatory for ICPEs subject to authorization, under the Seveso III Directive currently in force. The classic hazard study must therefore include a proper description of possible domino effects. The various hazard phenomena must be considered as potential initiators of domino effects, whether they originate from the same unit, the same workshop, the same site or a neighboring industrial site, and must be listed in the hazard study. Although French regulations do not impose specific methods and tools, the analysis of domino effect risks must nevertheless be carried out according to a suitable overall method, the content of which must be described and justified.
