Higher education and research are decisive assets for the future of our country. François Fillon is well aware of their importance: he has had the privilege of being in charge of them twice as Minister, and also as Prime Minister. His government has sought to restore confidence in universities: in 2007, the project drawn up by Valérie Pécresse to give universities genuine autonomy was presented without delay, and the LRU law (loi relative aux libertés et responsabilités des universités) was promulgated on August 10, 2007.

In a context where university autonomy means greater freedom and responsibility for French universities, the LRU law has brought about significant and positive changes.
