4. Reinforcement methods
When faced with a stability problem, the first solution is to avoid unstable slope movements without preventing them. Two types of solution are possible:
Locate or relocate the building, structure or road outside the moving zone, in an area recognized as stable;
design the structure in such a way that it is not damaged by the landslide: either by resisting the forces generated by the landslide (a solution reserved for small landslides), or by adapting the construction method so that the foundations are dissociated from the moving ground. Figure 15 shows the principle of a pile foundation in a landslide.
