INTRODUCTION
Providing an employee with personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect him or her from a work situation assessed as hazardous during the chemical risk assessment process is not enough. Even if the initial characteristics of the equipment are correct and in line with the desired protective effectiveness, the maintenance of this effectiveness over time must be controlled, and the management of this equipment, of which storage and maintenance are a part, must be integrated into existing operating systems.
How to ensure that :
Is PPE available?
PPE integrity intact?
Does its effectiveness always meet the protection factors sought?
Won't he contaminate the working environment himself?
Will it be disposed of in the right waste stream?
This sheet will help you :
establish a reference system to ensure that PPE storage and maintenance conditions are respected;
guarantee the intrinsic characteristics of the PPE provided.
Using this data sheet, you will create a guide to good PPE storage and maintenance practices. This manual will then help you to inform, raise awareness and monitor PPE users.
