6. What are the filling requirements?
Once bulk conveying equipment has been selected, care must be taken to ensure that the maximum filling ratio is respected, so as to exclude any breakage, leakage of contents or permanent deformation of the equipment due to expansion of the material under the effect of temperature variations. In addition, the materials making up the equipment (generally metal), its seals and service equipment must be compatible with the material being transported. Alteration of tank metal due to incompatible loading is one of the main causes of repairs, and even reformation, of these devices.
On the other hand, certain incompatible dangerous goods cannot be loaded in adjacent compartments.
