Transport guidé urbain; urban fixed guideway transit

A mode of transport in which vehicles are guided by the infrastructure, enabling passengers to travel in urban areas.

Pistonnement; piston effect

The action of a vehicle in a tunnel on the air mass, physically comparable to a force.

Smoke destratification; smoke destratification

When the smoke from a fire fills the entire height of a tunnel or room.

Vitesse critique; critical velocity

Longitudinal air speed in a tunnel at which all the smoke from a fire is pushed to one side.

Sound attenuator

Device designed to limit the acoustic emissions of a piece of equipment by capturing sound in an air stream.
