biocompatible; biocompatible

Refers to a material that is compatible with living biological tissues, meaning it is not rejected by the immune system.

biodegradable; biodegradable

Refers to a material that can be broken down by a series of successive or concurrent physical, chemical, and biological processes, resulting in the reorganization of biomass and the release of carbon dioxide (and/or methane), water, and energy (in the form of heat).

bioresorbable; bioresorbable

Refers to a material that can be eliminated by the body at the end of its useful life through bioresorption.
