5. Conclusion

Today, the fight against climate change is even more at the heart of debates and passions. The cancellation by the French Constitutional Council on Tuesday December 29, 2009 of the carbon tax that was due to be applied from January 1 2010 is yet another example. The Constitutional Council considered that the law contained too many exceptions, which it said were contrary to "the objective of combating global warming" and created inequality in the face of taxation.

So everyone's wondering: is this good news or bad news? Reactions are divided between satisfaction at seeing this measure censured in its current version, and concern that it has been definitively buried, which seems to be the case today.
