2. Membrane contactors for post-combustion carbon dioxide capture

Almost unanimously, carbon dioxide is recognized as one of the main greenhouse gases (GHGs), contributing to global warming. To limit anthropogenic CO 2 emissions, one of the options advocated is the capture and storage of produced carbon dioxide (CCS) [11].

With this in mind, experts recommend amine capture as the mature technical solution for capturing 80-90% of CO 2 in post-combustion, with purity close to 90%. Under these conditions, the application of CCS comes up against two stumbling blocks: the economic cost of capture linked to the low CO 2 content (4 to 13% vol.) and the enormous volume of flue gas to be treated (over 1 million m 3 .h –1 ...
