5. Hydrogen and syngas production and conversion

Hydrogen, produced mainly from natural gas (methane), is essential for many applications, such as ammonia synthesis, which consumes 50% of production, followed by the refining sector (35%). It is also used in combination with carbon monoxide for the synthesis of methanol and liquid hydrocarbons.
