photobioreactor; photobioreactor (PBR)

Device used to grow microalgae. Culture system for microalgae designed to effectively control growth conditions such as pH, temperature, light source, addition of mineral nutrients or CO ₂ supply.

Net Energy Ratio (NER)

A ratio that compares the amount of energy produced and the amount of energy consumed during an overall process or one of its parts. These values are calculated after carrying out material and energy balances for the overall process and/or its unit operations.
