6. Conclusion
Methanization is undoubtedly an interesting way of producing energy materials in a virtuous cycle that minimizes greenhouse gas emissions. However, given the nature of the process and the volatile products likely to be released into the atmosphere, it is important to assess and remedy the disadvantages inherent in this process, so as not to lose all credibility with the public. Odors and the nuisance they may cause are among the points to be taken into consideration.
According to the three main typologies defined by ADEME, i.e. on-farm, regional and WWTP installations, olfactometric and physico-chemical measurements can be used to highlight a number of points to be monitored on a farm.
