As you can see, photocatalysis has been booming in recent years. It offers enormous potential for treating waste gases and purifying both indoor and outdoor air. Nevertheless, a number of challenges still need to be met to increase the efficiency of the process and ensure its development on a wider scale. Two important areas are
the development of new, more efficient catalysts capable of operating under visible light or with adequate illumination. This would facilitate the design of reactors by eliminating the need for external lighting;
the combination of processes (photocatalysis/adsorption, photocatalysis/plasma, etc.) is set to grow in order to increase the performance of treatment processes and control degradation mechanisms, notably by limiting the formation of potentially harmful by-products....
