Self-inflammation; auto-ignition

Inflammation of an air-fuel mixture without spark ignition, solely due to the effect of temperature and pressure.

Boucle d'air; air loop

All the devices used to bring air into the engine: ducts, supercharging system, exhaust gas recirculation, etc.

Click; knock

Combustion with mass ignition of the air-fuel mixture before flame propagation.

Flame jamming; quenching

The phenomenon of flame extinction close to a wall. This is known as wedging distance.
