5. Notion of test center

A test center is an entity grouping together test benches and all the facilities required for their operation, both in terms of equipment and logistics. There are several types of workspace:

• Offices for supervisory staff and the engineers and technicians needed to keep the test facilities running smoothly.

• Reception of engines or engine parts, or of vehicles to be tested. In the case of vehicles, it is often essential to provide a blind room to protect the confidentiality of new models to be tested.

• An engine assembly workshop for assembly from component parts.

• An engine modelling workshop for mounting engines on test bed installation carts, as well as their instrumentation according to the tests to be carried out. In the case of chassis dynamometers, a...
