3. Conclusion

In an earlier article [BM 2 582] , we set out the basis on which the gear ratio of an automotive gearbox could be objectively determined according to simple criteria, such as maximum target speed or torque reserve.

This article goes even further, showing that the transmission can be used to give the vehicle specific performances (top speed, acceleration, crossing...) or particular "types" (sporty, adventurous, economical...).

Of course, the first step is to understand the vehicle's specific characteristics, in particular its "genetic" ability to transmit...
