7. Separation
Separators are designed to separate either another fluid or solids from a fluid for discharge. There are several different families (illustrated on figure 18 ):
water separators for steam systems ;
oil separators for compressed air systems ;
sediment separators, also known as sieve filters, for steam and pumping systems;
strainers for pumping systems.
