4. Sliding seals

The integration of the sliding function into the geometry and materialization of a constant velocity joint requires the definition of an angularity-slide profile, which automakers establish on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, taking into account installation angles and positions, suspension and steering travels, powertrain travels, assembly dispersions and so on.

This outline is the minimum requirement, which must fit as closely as possible into the diagram of the sliding joint's possibilities; an example of such a diagram is given in figure 19 for a tripod sliding joint.
