1.1 Aluminum alloys

Light aluminum alloys are mainly used in the aerospace industry. They account for some 70% of the materials used in the manufacture of civil aircraft.

Their essential qualities are :

  • low density ;

  • high electrical and thermal conductivity;

  • good corrosion resistance ;

  • good aptitude for hot and cold forming;

  • good behaviour at low temperatures without risk of embrittlement;

  • great curing potential;

  • very low toxicity;

  • remarkable suitability for all kinds of surface...
