3. Digital simulation

3.1 Analytical or semi-analytical methods

Some of the equations describing the IFS for mechanical systems of "simple" geometry and behavior lend themselves to analytical resolution. Although rare, this situation enables rapid simulations to be carried out, generating data useful to engineers for parametric or pre-sizing studies, when the geometries are not fixed.

Example:

 

The simulation of the effect of a pressure wave on a cylindrical hull can be performed using a semi-analytical method. The dynamic equations, describing wave propagation, interaction with the hull, hull deformation, etc., are solved, in part, explicitly using an easy-to-use calculation tool...
