4. Conclusion
A versatile method for efficiently and accurately calculating the dynamic response of hull-mounted equipment to underwater explosions was presented. The underlying principles were detailed, along with various applications on representative shock problem situations (for 1D, 2D, 3D geometries and for linear and non-linear responses).
The proposed method is based on the calculation of transfer functions, representing the mechanical interactions involved (fluid/structure and structure/structure coupling), and provides access to the data that would be provided by a coupled simulation, without having to perform one each time a model parameter is modified. The method can therefore be of interest for industrial applications, producing meaningful data for engineers and architects in the shipbuilding industry.
