2. Strength calculations for parallel gears

2.1 Standardization

The ISO TC 60 Committee has defined methods for calculating tooth strength. The original documents are as follows.

A. General methods – Parallel gears :

ISO/DIS 6336. Calculation of the load capacity of spur and helical parallel gears.

Part 1: Basic principles, introduction and general influencing factors ;

Part 2: Calculation of surface resistance (pitting) ;

Part 3: Calculating the bending strength of tooth roots ;

Part 4: Calculation of gear resistance to galling ;

Part 5: Strength and quality of materials.
