By way of illustration, we explain the important special case of a cylinder of radius a, to which an internal overpressure load δp (z ) is applied (axisymmetric meridian loading).

Since the problem is meridian, the displacements considered are only along Y (term V (Z )) and along Z (arrow W (z )) (figure ).
