2.1 Different types of mineral oil

Mineral oils [29] are essentially a mixture of hydrocarbons. They can be considered as offering greater potential, since thermal stability is one of the most important factors in their case, and this is particularly favourable for hydrocarbons.

Mineral oils are by far the most widely used. They are cheap, plentiful and stable.

They are classified in accordance with NF EN ISO 6743-4 (cf. ), the principles of the four categories covered by this paragraph (see article [ BM 6 010 § 2.1]).
