4. Semi-automatic MIG and MAG welding

4.1 Process description

Figure 19 shows a semi-automatic welding system, a process also known as MIG or MAG, depending on whether the gas is Metal Inert Gas or Metal Active Gas. In English-speaking countries, the terms semi-automatic welding, gas metal arc welding or GMA, gas shielded arc welding process are used interchangeably.
