7. Conclusion - Outlook

Studying the behavior of assemblies involves both experimentation and numerical modeling. The degree of complexity of experiments or numerical models (3D or simplified) illustrates the complexity of the mechanisms involved. The sheer number of parameters involved in dimensioning assemblies inexorably limits experimental exploration. The numerical alternative is based on 3D modeling and on the characterization of elastoplastic (possibly viscous) behavior, damage and fracture models of the materials making up the assembly. Once this stage has been completed and validated, the numerical simulation tool can be used as a virtual prototyping method to study the influence of various parameters (or technological choices).
