4. Conclusion

Tapping is therefore a machining technique that stands out from the others in that its technological context involves many elements. The machine and the attachment are two essential points that determine tapping practice, that can be implemented, and that influence tap control. From a production point of view, these elements have a bearing on cycle times and the reliability of tapping operations. These choices also condition the type of tap geometry that can be used, which obviously has repercussions on the geometric properties of the threads machined. When approaching a tapping problem, it is therefore important neither to focus solely on what happens at the tool tip, nor to concentrate solely on machine control. Rather, because of the mutual interaction between the two, an analysis must be carried out at both scales.
