HLE steels; HSS

High yield strength steels, with yield strengths above 360 MPa.

High cycle fatigue (HCF)

Occurs when materials are subjected to stresses well below their elastic limit over a large number of cycles, typically after 10 5 cycles.

Oligocyclic fatigue; low cycle fatigue (LCF)

Occurs when materials are subjected to high stress variations, generally exceeding the elastic limit, over a small number of cycles up to approximately 10 4 cycles.

Throat (apotheme); throat length

Dimension of the weld bead at 45°.
