2. High-speed grinding

There are two types of conventional rectification:

  • flat grinding ;

  • cylindrical grinding.

The only thing they have in common is the grinding wheel used to finish the part.

Their realization is the result of the same evolutionary process:

  • quality improvement ;

  • increase the peripheral rotation speed of the grinding wheel ;

  • parts can be finished using the same fixture.

German machine tool manufacturers show that the rate of material removal is limited by the burning and degradation of conventional grinding wheels at peripheral wheel speeds of 45 to 60 m/s.
