3. Modeling AU4G machining (A2024-T351)

Aluminium is used in many industries to make many different products and is very important to the world economy. China is a major producer, far behind North America (USA and Canada). Structural components made from aluminum are essential to the aerospace industry, and very important in other transport and construction sectors where its low density, durability and strength are required.

AU4G (A2024-T351) is a high-performance aluminum alloy most often used in aerospace applications. Its main characteristics are as follows:

  • good machinability ;

  • good surface finish;

  • high mechanical strength matched to shaping capacity;

  • significantly better than the derived A2017 grade (most often used in the automotive industry);...
