5. Tool set-up and maintenance
Machine set-up (MAP) and maintenance are important and still indispensable phases in the development and use of press tools.
Understanding this means integrating the following two notions:
the design of the tool includes an element of risk, however small;
the tool wears out from the very first press stroke.
5.1 Tool adjustment
Today, it is not possible to design a tool without going through MAP, at the risk of producing a tool that will not be able to produce the part with the required characteristics, and whose operation will adversely affect production.
